
Banda Musa is an eight-piece band formed of world-class musicians from Bahia.
The band showcases dynamic Carnaval rhythms of Brazil led by vocalist Joka Barreto, an icon of the Carnaval of Salvador, Bahia, the world’s largest street Carnaval.

The band's talented musicians have played in Germany, Amsterdam, Brussels, Paris, Portugal, Aruba, South Africa, Japan and some have participated in the prestigious Montreux Jazz Festival with different bands. The members are Joka (vocal), Roberta Bezerra (back vocal, choreographer), Clóvis Novais (keyboard), Alejandro Fontealba (guitar) and Alexandre Costa (bass-guitar), Zezinho Cerqueira (drums), Társio Regis (percussion), and Júnior Pipoca (percussion).

Joka Barreto: Vocalist Joka Barreto, is an icon of the Carnaval of Salvador, Bahia, the world’s largest street Carnaval. On stage, Joka's charisma and energetic singing and dance have won him several music awards and gold and platinum albums in Brazil. Joka is the former vocalist of the popular band Bamdamel of Bahia, one of the creators of axé-music, also called Bahian Swing. He has played eight years with Bamdamel before joining Banda Musa.

Roberta Bezerra: Back vocal and choreographer, she has worked with several Bahian bands like Harmonia do Samba and É o Tchan among others.
Clóvis Novais: Pianist, keyboard player, and arranger, he is one of the most talented musician with a vast history playing with band Novos Bárbaros, and performed in several international tours with Margareth Menezes, Bamdamel, Saul Barbosa, Simone Moreno, Mara Maravilha, e Roberto Mendes. He has also accompanied artists like Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil in shows with Margareth Menezes and recorded several CDs of prominent musicians.
Alejandro Fontealba: He is a talented guitarist, keyboard and trombone player and a singer. Native of Chile, Alejandro lived in Bahia for seventeen years, and was the arranger of many Brazilian music hits like Faraó. He was a member of the famous bands Rebeca Matta, Gente Brasileira, Orquestra Internacional Rumbaiana, C# Blues, Clecia Queiroz, Xexeu e Banda Tribau Timbalada, among others.
Alexandre Costa: Bass guitar player with a vast musical experience, he is a founder and member of the Funk Machine band in a partnership with Adelmo Case, the great success of the program Fama.
Zezinho Cerqueira: A drummer and one of the co-founders of Ásia de Águia, one of the most popular bands of Bahia. An international musician, he has accompanied several artists in tours to Aruba, Cuba, South Africa, Japan and India.
Társio Regis: A percussionist who played with the bands Baby Leguas, Papa Léguas, Prisioneiro do Samba, e Acarajé com Camarão, among others. He comes from a musical family that is part of Bahian music history. He is the son of the great Brazilian percussionist Dito Regis.
Júnior Pipoca: Percussionist, disciple of the popular Bahian band Araketu. In his vast musical experience, he performed with Bamdamel in a US tour, with Zé Paulo, John Robert, Viviane Tripode and recently with the African singer Angelique.
Edu Cerqueira: A successful businessman from Bahia and Banda Musa’s creator and manager.
